Congratulations to the winners

“The top three is a representation of a well-balanced selection made by the judges.”

Claudine Stuart and Debbie Moore, Rampage Modelling Agency/organisers of Mr and Miss Benoni, write:

We congratulate all the contestants of this year’s Mr and Miss Benoni pageant.

It was a resounding success, and every finalist was worthy of the crown.

The pageant is held not only to crown a king and queen to represent Benoni but to uplift the youth and include them in community and charitable events, during which they outdid themselves.

It is rewarding to see friendships made during the competition and the encouragement given to each other.

Our judging panel was meticulously chosen to include a well-balanced outcome.

The five judges were adequately briefed on choosing the perfect role models for the city, looking at their personality, attitude and respect.

During the swimwear category, each contestant was awarded a mark out of 10 for confidence and personality.

Another mark out of 10 was then tallied based on each contestant’s walking style, followed by another 10 for overall performance.

During the eveningwear leg of the competition, the finalists introduced themselves to the audience and judges, after which marks were awarded based on their introduction, confidence, personality and overall performance.

A mark out of 10 was awarded for each of these aspects.

During the semi-finals, the organisers awarded each finalist a mark out of 60.

All the marks up to this point collated to 360, from which the top seven male and female contestants were calculated.

A judge asked each finalist random questions, and a mark out of 10 was awarded based on their responses.

Based on the 50 new marks, as rated by the judges, the top three and, ultimately, Mr and Miss Benoni were selected.

We look forward to working with this year’s winners and feel the judges nailed the brief in selecting the most apt winners.
