Two taxi drivers shot and killed

Paramedics on the scene declared both men dead.

Two taxi drivers were shot dead in separate incidents in Daveyton on the weekend.

According to the SAPS Ekurhuleni district communication officer, Captain Nelda Sekgobela, the first incident happened on July 21 on the corner of Eisselen and Empilweni streets at around 19:15.

“When police arrived at the scene, they found a 22-year-old man in a white Toyota Quantum with three bullet wounds to the upper body,” said Sekgobela.

Paramedics certified him dead. His body was taken to the Springs mortuary.

The second incident happened on the corner of Kheswa and Gazini streets on July 22, just after 17:00.

Sekgobela said the 44-year-old, inside a white Toyota Quantum taxi, was shot in the upper body and certified dead by paramedics.
The SAPS found four empty cartridges at the scene.
