Benoni Aurora Rotary Anns reach out to inmates
The club recently donated 400 underwears to inmates at Johannesburg Correctional Services.
For the past 31 years, Benoni Aurora Rotary Anns have created a lasting change in communities through their various projects.
To continue to uphold its mission which is to provide service to others, they have recently established the underwear project for female inmates.
According to Benoni Aurora Rotary Anns incoming president, Janice Carter, the project will focus on distributing new or pre-owned underwear and bras to women at local prisons.
“These personal items are in constant need in the correctional facilities, a sector of our community that we serve. This project will continue and we look forward to assisting the inmates in other ways in the future,” said Carter.
Members of the Benoni Aurora Rotary Anns have delivered the first batch of 400 underwear items to Johannesburg Correctional Services.
“We are appealing to the community to support this initiative by either donating pre-owned underwear or purchasing new items for this worthy drive,” said Carter.
