Male suspect arrested in Etwatwa for multiple charges

The suspect was found packaging illegal substances into ziplock bags.

The EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU) officers arrested a 28-year-old man in Etwatwa, for possession, and possible dealing, of illicit substances.

He was also in possession of live ammunition.

According to the EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, the officers received information regarding the location of a suspect allegedly dealing drugs.

“The information led the officers to a residence on Zambezi Street in Barcelona, Etwatwa. Upon the arrival, the officers found the suspect in one of the back rooms in the yard packing dagga inside Ziplock bags,” said Thepa.

“After the officers searched the premises, they found a plastic bag with dagga, two live rounds, two pocket knives and R334 in cash. The estimated street value of the dagga is R1 500.

“The suspect was arrested and detained at the Etwatwa Police Station,” she said.

The suspect will appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
