After five years of trying to perfect sentences into a book, 33-year-old Petros Khoza of Daveyton published his first book, Learning to Love Myself through Tears.

He sold over 90 copies since the June release and said the book aimed to help people of all ages deal with their struggles.

Khoza, the founder of the community TV channel Daveyton TV, said the book was a toolkit for personal coaching and development.

Having been raised by a single mother in an informal settlement and the challenges he faced while growing up inspired the book.

The author of Learning to Love Myself Through Tears and founder of Daveyton TV, Petros Khoza.

“I saw these challenges as motivation. Chapter two of the book, Transformation is a renewed mind, expresses how a person’s mindset can determine who they ultimately become.

“You are not what happened to you. You are who you choose to be,” he said.

Khoza said his favourite chapter in the book was chapter one, Every good and bad decision affects us either way.

“This chapter talks about decisions made by others that affect us daily. This includes decisions we have no power over, but we often focus on them, and in the process, they hurt us. You can’t change what you have no power over, yet you can make those challenges work in your best interest,” said Khoza.
