City of Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana and a team of MMCs recently visited various areas in Daveyton to assess the state of service delivery.

This is part of the metro’s People’s Government at Work Masisebenzeni outreach programme.

The mayor first stopped at the newly renovated Daveyton customer care centre and then walked to the construction site of the N12 off-ramp.

The mayor also visited the construction site of the N12 off-ramp.

During their visit to the vandalised Sinaba Stadium, they found illegal dumping on the premises. The mayor called on the community to play their part in protecting public infrastructure and refrain from illegal dumping.

Ngodwana also condemned the vandalism and theft of municipal property and infrastructure when he found a grader supported with bricks with its tyres, worth about R250 000, missing. He said this derails service delivery.

“The theft of municipal property does not only delay the delivery of services, but it also inconveniences residents who benefit directly from these services.

“We condemn the senseless theft of six brand new tyres and rims belonging to a sports field grader stationed at Sinaba Stadium,” he said.

The team also went to the Etwatwa water reservoir to assess progress in improving the water supply to residents in Etwatwa and Daveyton.

Other projects inspected on the day included the cleaning and reconstruction of the stormwater drainage system in Mayfield.
