Don’t miss the Caravela Portugese Festival this weekend

Artists like Prime Circle, Jesse Clegg, Karen Zoid and Lee Cole, and Afrikaans superstars Riana Nel and Bobby van Jaarsveld will keep festival-goers entertained.

Remember to head to Casa dos Poveiros on 177 Dayan Road, Dayanglen, this weekend for the Caravela Portuguese Festival, hosted by the Portuguese Forum of South Africa.

The festival takes place from June 2 to 4 and promises unrivalled fun for the family with world-class music, food and lifestyle events.

When the Boksburg Advertiser visited the festival just after it started on Friday, there was already an air of excitement as the festivities got underway.

Marco Dealmeida gave a thumbs-up to the Caravela Portuguese Festival.

Attendees can look forward to live performances from Prime Circle, Jesse Clegg, Karen Zoid and Lee Cole, and Afrikaans superstars Riana Nel and Bobby van Jaarsveld.

Manny Ferreirinha explained the event is about celebrating the Portuguese.

“We just want people to come and enjoy the event. Ticket sales are booming. We expect about 30 000 people, and Saturday will be the busiest day,” he added.

In keeping with the generous community spirit of Portuguese South Africans, part of the proceeds will go to the Boksburg SPCA and Hospice East Rand.

Tickets are available at Computicket or the gate.
