Rynfield vet murder – no arrests yet

Coleman was a farmer and had retired as a veterinarian.

It is nearly eight months since the murder of well-known veterinarian Jessie Coleman of Longlife Veterinary Hospital in Rynfield, but nobody has been arrested.

Coleman was murdered on his farm near Delmas in the early hours of September 27.

According to the Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the police have made progress, but there have been no apprehensions.

“The investigation is still ongoing. However, we cannot share more information with the public as that would compromise the investigation,” Mdhluli said.

Authorities learnt of the murder after the Delmas police received information on their social media farm watch group when a member of the Coleman family raised the alarm about a possible attack at a farm in Klipspruit Waaikraal, between Delmas and Bronkhorstspruit.

On arrival at the farm, the police found the 72-year-old lying in a pool of blood with his hands and feet tied.

He was certified dead by the paramedics. The police discovered that the house’s back door was broken, possibly by the suspect(s) to gain entry.

The house was ransacked, and the police suspected Coleman’s cellphone was stolen during the robbery. The police also investigated charges of house robbery.
Coleman was also a farmer and had retired as a vet.
