Trio nabbed for possession of drugs

The three suspects have appeared in the Daveyton Magistrate's Court.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) arrested three men for possession of drugs in Daveyton recently.

According to EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, during a drug operation, the DEU officers received information about a 33-year-old man that was suspected of selling illegal drugs to the community.

One of the suspects that was arrested by members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit with the packets of drugs that were found in his possession

“Acting on the information they received, officers cornered the suspect at Chris Hani informal settlement. In his possession they found a cash amount of R40, 27 Ziplock bags containing rock and 34 packets of nyaope, valued at R3 000.

“Another man was found in possession of 80 packets of dagga valued at R1 600 on Vivian Street.

“A third suspect was cornered at Chris Hani Ext 1. He was found in possession of an amount of R45, 35 packets of dagga and 16 Ziplock bags containing rock, worth R1 500,” Thepa said.

The trio were arrested at the Daveyton SAPS and charged with possession and possible dealing in drugs.
The suspects have appeared in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court.
