Info sought on person who dumped dog in Pretoria Road

Witnesses contacted the CPF for help.

The Crystal Park CPF is appealing for information about a motorist who dumped a dog at a busy intersection last night (May 7) night. The animal ended up being hit by a car and died.

According to Paul Raley, CPF chairperson, witnesses to the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Pretoria and Vlei roads at about 19:15, contacted the CPF for help to rescue the bewildered dog, a young female Great Dane.

“Witnesses said the person who dumped the dog was driving a grey Toyota Hilux double cab with no canopy. It was not a current model, but perhaps the shape of a D-4D model,” he explained.

“It was dark and raining and the dog was bewildered; almost immediately nearly getting hit by a Ford Ecosport that was driving behind the Hilux.

“We were contacted and dispatched members to try to rescue the dog.

“Unfortunately, the animal was so panicked, running in and out of traffic, that it eventually was struck by a car and died in the gutter on the side of the road.”

The Hilux was travelling in the direction from Fairleads towards Pretoria Road.

“We need to find this heartless person,” Raley said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact him via WhatsApp on 082 827 1050.
