Man arrested for allegedly killing toddler and girlfriend

A man (32) was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend and two-year-old daughter.

Community members found the child’s lifeless body, with her throat slit, lying on a street in Mayfield, Etwatwa, on May 1.

According to the Putfontein SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Raider Ubisi, the mother was found with multiple stab wounds on April 30 in Ext 1, Mayfield.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the boyfriend was seen assaulting the mother on the streets.

“Apparently, community members reprimanded him to stop what he was doing. Later, he was seen carrying his two-year-old daughter,” he said.

The man was charged with double murder and has appeared in court.
