Three people were shot dead and several others injured when unknown gunmen opened fire on patrons at a tavern at the N12 informal settlement near Cloverdene on April 28, at around 23:00.
According to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, when police arrived at the scene, they found three bodies of men suspected to be illegal miners.
Police believe the gunmen fired randomly inside the tavern.
“The victims suffered gunshot wounds and were certified dead at the scene,” said Masondo.
A case of murder was opened at the Crystal Park SAPS, and investigations continue.
Police appeal to anyone who might have information about the whereabouts of the suspects to contact their nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
