POWER UPDATE: Technicians working hard to restore power, says municipality

"Restoration time will be communicated once all tests have been completed."

The City of Ekurhuleni has announced that technicians are working around the clock to restore power to affected parts of Northmead and surrounding areas in Benoni.

Spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said failed oil tests resulted in power not be being restored at the stipulated time of 22:00 yesterday.

“However, tests and fault locating works are still ongoing with the hope that power is restored as soon as possible.

“In the interim, the city is working on ensuring that in the meantime Northmead will be partially supplied from neighbouring substations such as Farrarmere, Morehill and Rynfield,” said Dlamini.

Dlamini stated further that restoration time will be communicated once all tests have been completed.

“Customers are urged to treat all electrical networks as live at all times. The city apologises for the inconvenience this may cause.”
