UPDATE: Water supply expected to normalise soon

Roving water tankers will remain in the affected areas until water supply has been restored.

Water supply to affected suburbs in Benoni should normalise soon. This is according to the City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

It was earlier reported that Rynfield, Benoni North, Brentwood Park, Northvilla, Northmead, Goedeburg, Farrarmere and Airfield have been without water since March 15.

“Rand Water has completed repairs on a water leak that has been affecting their water supply,” said Dlamini.

“However, some areas remain without water because of extremely low storage levels of the reservoirs, which stands at less than 20%. The process of refilling these reservoirs is underway and we expect the water supply situation to improve as the day progresses,” Dlamini said.

Areas affected by the outage are:
• Actonville

• Mackenzie Park

• Wattville

• Tamboville

• Benoni CBD

• Lakefield

• Northmead

• Farrarmere

• Rynfield

• Brentwood Park

• Goedeburg
