Get to know Benoni Child Welfare services

The Greater Benoni Child Welfare (GBCW) is committed to serve and protect the needs and interest of all vulnerable children.

The Greater Benoni Child Welfare wishes to remind the public of its services.

Established in 1924, the organisation is a registered non-profit organisation which focuses on protecting and upholding the rights of children in the community.

They advocate on behalf of children who have been abused, neglected, abandoned or orphaned.

They place them in an environment in which both their physical and emotional being is developed so as to give these children an opportunity for a better future.

They render psychosocial services to any person and they do quarterly campaigns against gender-based violence.

The organisation provides services which include:
• Preventative services
• Statutory services
• Intake services
• Crisis intervention
• Mediation
• Foster care supervision – up to 1450 children
• Support groups: parenting skills, teen and foster parents
• Investigation of child abuse and neglect
• Community project
• Colin House Child and Youth Care Centre

The Colin House Child and Youth Care Centre is for abused and neglected children who have been removed from parental care. Their facility can accommodate up to 20 children between the ages of four to 12 years. It stimulates the ‘family’ set-up whilst the children await more permanent placement;.
