RRS arrest 127

Investigations are continuing.

The combined operations by members of the Gauteng Rapid Response Services (RRS) led to the arrest of 127 suspects throughout Gauteng between February 17 and 23.

Members of the Flying Squad, the K9 Units and the Highway Patrol recovered 43 vehicles and 21 firearms.

Various concentrated operations were conducted throughout the week, including vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols.

“Officers arrested 48 people on charges of assault with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of controlled scheduled substances, violation of protection order, theft, possession of stolen property, robbery, illicit cigarettes, illegal immigrants and malicious damage to property.

“The operations also led to the recovery of stolen and hijacked vehicles, further resulting in 33 arrests for the possession of these vehicles,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, the Benoni Flying Squad spokesperson.

“Unlicensed firearms were recovered, followed by 22 arrests.”

Further policing led to the arrest of 24 people on charges of being in possession of drugs. Heroin, dagga, Mandrax, crystal meth and cocaine were seized.
