Benoni IEB matrics celebrate their results

The City Times visited St Dunstan’s College, Pinnacle College Rynfield and Ashton International College, on January 18 to share in the delight as IEB matriculants received their results.

Pinnacle College Rynfield

Pinnacle College Rynfield again celebrated a 100% pass rate in last year’s Independent Examinations Board’s (IEB) matric finals.

Of the 21 matrics, 71% passed with a bachelor’s degree pass, while the remaining 29% achieved diploma passes.

“Congratulations to the class of 2022,” said principal Clint Gaffney.

“Celebrate the moment that you have diligently and passionately worked for. We are proud of you and know you will be successful in whatever you do.”

The school’s top achiever, Membethisi Mtsi, attained distinctions in English, Afrikaans, maths, accounting, life sciences and life orientation.

St Dunstan’s College

St Dunstan’s College expressed excitement at its record of a 100% pass rate.

Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic while in Grades 10 and 11, the Class of 2022 successfully pulled through and made the college proud.

Of the 98 learners who wrote the IEB examinations, 94% achieved bachelor’s degree exemptions.

Three learners from the school shone the brightest. One learner bagged eight distinctions and the other two bagged seven each.

Ronan Burger, Rayyan Rauf and Dominic Martins achieved distinctions in all their subjects.

Burger’s average placed him on the IEB’s outstanding achievement list because he was in the top 5% in six or more subjects.

He also achieved 100% in mathematics and a rating level of seven in life orientation.

He will study for a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the University of Cape Town.

Rauf and Martins bagged seven distinctions each and will study medicine and actuarial science at the University of Witwatersrand, respectively.

According to the school’s rector, Warwick Taylor, they are very proud of the learners who achieved outstanding results because of the support of staff, educators and parents.

“Achieving these results is about community. The overall picture of the results shows that all our departments are delivering at a high level. We wish our learners every success as they enter the next phase of their lives,” said Taylor.

Deputy Head of Academics, Allan Lachenicht, said: “We are very proud of every learner who worked hard and contributed positively in many areas of school life. Each learner has achieved the best of their potential.”

Ashton International College

Ashton International College obtained a 100% pass rate in the 2022 IEB matric exams with 93% of learners obtaining bachelor’s passes.

The school achieved a total of 83 distinctions.

Four leaners obtained seven distinctions, three celebrated six while two achieved five.

Principal Lynne Felix said she is proud her learners and wished them well for their future endeavours.

Ashton International College Principal Lynne Felix and former headboy Kyle Moonisami who will be studying towards a degree in finance at the University of Pretoria.

“Across the board in international Grade Six examinations, IGCSE in Grade 10 and IEB and CAIE in matric, Ashtonians have once again achieved outstanding results.

“We applaud our staff, students and parents on their commitment to excellence and their dedication to their studies,” said Felix.
