Okae Molao yields positive results

“The focus of the operation was roadblocks, hot spot areas, drugs, liquor, second-hand goods, illegal mining and saturation.”

Ten illegal immigrants were arrested at a joint Operation Okae Molao led by Ekurhuleni police commissioner Major General Anna Sithole at Paul Kruger highway near Kingsway and Lindelani on January 12.

According to the district communications officer, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the police issued 25 traffic fines valued at R10 600 while one person was arrested for having copper cables.

“The focus of the operation was roadblocks, hot spots areas, drugs, liquor, second-hand goods, illegal mining and saturation,” she said.

Sekgobela added that the VCP team issued a further 45 traffic fines valued at R18 500 on the corner of Great North and North roads. Three liquor outlets were closed and three J534s valued at R4 500 were issued.

Furthermore, one person was arrested for dealing in dagga, three were detained for possession of drugs and one illegal immigrant was arrested.

In addition, the police confiscated second-hand goods while issuing two J534s valued at R3 000. Illegal mining equipment, including 11 pendukas, four metal pots and two metal stampers among others, was also seized.
