Pastor Arnold Uys from the Charisma Church in Northmead has described his book, Purity – Simple Sexual and Intimacy Insights, as a gateway to help people find answers to their questions about sexuality.
Released in December, Uys explained the book was about the significance of sexuality and intimacy from a Christian viewpoint.
“I understand that sex, as a critically important dimension of matrimony, only works within the confines of a marriage where committed love and mutual respect is part of the deal,” he said.
According to the pastor, the book is the result of more than a decade of research.
It contains devotions presented over nine weeks of five days or 45 days in all – addressing some intimacy and sexuality aspects according to the Bible.
“It contains nuggets of revelation that God has given me over at least a decade, as well as principles that I have learned from others that illuminate certain aspects of human sexuality within the Bible.
“The initial devotions are elementary but will grow in intensity and depth as we go along. It will also progress from spiritual concepts to more practical ones.”
The book also contains Biblical quotations from the King James Version. Uys stated that rather than a contemporary translation, his motivation was to get to the core of what a verse might say or imply.
The pastor said he wrote the book after receiving a prophecy in 2011 from an acquaintance who stated God showed them he was going to write a book. Then in 2018, another acquaintance told him he was going to write a book titled purity.
“This book will trigger somebody to think differently about sexuality and intimacy,” he said.
He said topics discussed include how people experience intimacy, the challenges he experienced and the questions he wanted to be answered.
“There are Christian books that tackle this topic but they didn’t give me the answers I was looking for. I’ve found what I have been looking for and wanted to put that in a book format.”
