WATCH: Fallen heroes honoured at Rynpark Retirement Estate

The Corillon Singers took residents down memory lane with their rendition of war songs such as Pack up your troubles and Long way

Residents of Rynpark Retirement Estate commemorated Armistice (Poppy) Day on November 11, in honour of the selfless men who died in line of duty during the World War.

Benoni choir The Corillon Singers led residents in songs as they remembered fallen heroes.

Famous war songs, such as Pack up your Troubles, Long Way, Bless them All and many more formed part of the playlist.

Sharing their memories of the war, one of the residents, Bert Denman (102), said he was working in his garage when he heard a bulletin on the radio that all reservists will be deported to headquarters.

Another veteran, John Aeats (95), said he is glad that he came back alive after having been deployed to Egypt and Italy.
