Mayor presents her mayoral committee

She described the committee as a capable team that is fit for the task at hand.

Mayor of Ekurhuleni Tania Campbell announced the members of her mayoral committee, which consists of old and new faces, on November 15.

Campbell returned to the hot seat after being re-elected on November 8, less than a month after her ousting as the mayor of Ekurhuleni.

These appointments include the filling of the vacancy created after the former MMC of Infrastructure Services COPE’s Thembani Kalipa was removed – following controversy over his COPE membership and alleged violation of Item 14 of the Code of Conduct for Councillors.

Campbell said members of the executive were carefully selected as part of the multi-party coalition government’s efforts to create a committee of competent MMCs who will guide their respective departments in a direction that builds on the great work that has been achieved thus far.

“These individuals have been appointed based on their skillsets, and I have every confidence that they will lead their departments with the respect and dignity befitting of their office,” said Campbell during the announcement.

“Upon reassuming office last week, I made a commitment to the residents of Ekurhuleni that my office would hit the ground running. I have already taken decisive steps on several issues, most notably the waste crisis which is now being attended to with the urgency that it rightly deserves.”

The mayor described the presented MMCs as a capable team that is fit for the task at hand, and she wished them all the best with their new responsibilities.
