BFS weekend arrests

The suspects will appear in court soon

Eight suspects were arrested during routine weekend operations conducted by members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS).

Ammunition seized
Acting on crime intelligence, a man was arrested at a residence in Agenda Street, Phomolong, on November 12.

The suspect was in possession of seven 9mm pistols and four R5 rifles, and rounds of ammunition for which he could not produce a license.

Possession of drugs
Six suspects were arrested in separate cases for being in possession of drugs.

The arrests were made at City Corner in Etwatwa, the corners of Mocke and Turton streets in Daveyton, Benoni Plaza and the corner of Prince’s Avenue and Bunyan Street.

Crystal methamphetamine, nyaope and mandrax were confiscated.

Possession of unlicensed liquor
Members patrolling the N12 pulled a white Toyota Quantum over, at the Daveyton off-ramp, at 03:30 on November 14.

A search led to the discovery of five boxes of gin originating from a neighbouring country.

The female passenger, who was the alleged owner of the 100 bottles, was arrested after she failed to produce the necessary documents for the liquor.

Abandoned vehicle
A grey Toyota Corolla was recovered in Hornet Street, Rhodesfield. It was reported as hijacked.
