Meet Ms Poppins

Mary Poppins lands in October 28

For the more than six decades Mary Poppins has mesmerised audiences both young and old and, with just over a week to go before the curtains raise on the Protea Stage Production’s The Magical Tales of Mary Poppins, time is running out to book your tickets for this local stage production.

Anuska Oroszi, of Benoni, has been cast as the delightful nanny who was employed by George Banks to tend to his five children.

She was originally cast as Mrs Banks in 2020, in the play that was written and adapted by Doug Beaton, but the show never made it onto the stage due to the onset of Covid-19.

Following auditions, held in June, she was recast as our favourite nanny.

The HOD at Keyboard Magic, teaching piano, vocals, ukulele, theory, musical theatre and drama, Oroszi is excited to portray the role of Poppins, hoping that her performance will not only transport the audience to the cobbled streets of London but ignite a child-like wonder in each and every one.

“I have loved every moment of being part of this production,” she said.

“Each member of the cast bring their own unique energy to the stage which is magical.

“This production will enthrall and entertain while, admittedly, challenging the cast to keep a straight-face throughout.”

The show kicks off on October 28 to November 13 at Tom Newby Primary School, Airfield.

Tickets are available from Quicket at R90 for adults and R60 for pensioners and children under the age of 12.
