Police warn of rise in hijackings

The Crystal Park police are urging residents to be extra vigilant following a spike in hijackings around Crystal Park and Chief Luthuli area.

According to Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mopeli, a number of incidences have been reported at the police station where victims alleged that prior to the hijacking they were followed by a VW Polo vehicle.

The hijackers are reportedly two to three men and they are armed.

“We advise to community members to be alert at all times and avoid parking on the road or pavements especially at night,” said Mopeli.
