Operation Basadi yields positive results

Law officials joined forces to tackle crime during the operation

A joint operation in Daveyton consisting of various law enforcement saw nine arrests made on August 11.

Operation Basadi Okae Molao was led by Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole as part of the police’s Women’s Month celebration.

The Ekurhuleni District SAPS members, EMPD, Gauteng traffic officers, Department of Community Safety and other law officials joined hands in the fight against crime in Daveyton.

Daveyton spokesperson Sergeant Constance Moalusi said the suspects were arrested for various crimes including possession of drugs, dealing with liquor without a license and non-compliance for second-hand goods.

Police issued GBV pamphlets to community members of Daveyton.

“A total of 102 traffic fines worth R50 200 were issued to motorists who did not abide by traffic laws. About 1 218 people were searched during the roadblock,” said Mosalusi.

According to Sithole, Daveyton faces a massive challenge of crime. She urged women to go back to their roots and respect their elders.

“Girls nowadays no longer have respect. Women are warriors and should do things in a proper manner that will make them have integrity,” said Sithole.
