The firearm turned out to be a replica 9mm pistol.
Crystal Park SAPS is appealing for information related to a man randomly pointing a ‘firearm’ at motorists in Putfontein on January 4.
The firearm turned out to be a replica 9mm pistol.
The suspect (45) was arrested after EMPD Bronberg Precinct officers acted on a tip-off, according to EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.
“He was driving a white Ford Ranger LDV and was pulled over at the intersection of Putfontein and Van Ryn roads where, after a search was conducted, officers found him in possession of a G19C 9mm toy gun.
“The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was arrested for pointing a firearm and the toy gun was confiscated.
“The police would like any motorists who may have been a victim of someone pointing a firearm at them in the area on that day to come forward,” she said.
