Business robbery suspects caught

The suspects have appeared in the Benoni Magistrate's Court.

A 40-year-old man was arrested for robbing the Ackermans store at the Cloverdene Shopping Centre recently.

According to Crystal Park police spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mopeli, it is alleged that while the cashier was busy cashing up, a man approached her and demanded cash.

“It is alleged that the suspect, who was with five other suspects, stole several cellphones.

“When police officers responded, they managed to arrest the man in possession of two cellphones,” said Mopeli.

The 40-year-old was found in possession of two cellphones following a robbery at Ackermans Cloverdene Shopping Centre.

A case of business robbery was opened at the Crystal Park Police Station. The suspect has appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.

In another incident, the Crystal Park police recently recovered stolen items to the value of R520 000 after two motorbikes, two bicycles, a computer, tools and other belongings were stolen from a business in Crystal Park.

Three suspects, aged between 27 and 38, were arrested. Two of the suspects face a charge of business robbery, while the other has been charged with the possession of suspected stolen property.
