Kai nabs silver in 5km race

Kai Hattingh completed the race in 21:47.

Young Kai Hattingh clocked a top-three finish at the Midvaal Madmac Marathon 5km race in Meyerton on October 6.

She covered the 5km course in 21:47 to finish the women’s race in second place, behind winner Megan Waller, who clocked 19:05 for the win. Michelle Redelinghuys rounded up the podium in 22:13 for the bronze.

This latest achievement comes after a successful run in the distance for the Laerskool Baanbreker Grade Seven learner.

She won the Muller Potgieter 5km race in Pretoria on September 14. Before that, she clinched the gold at the Brooklyn Road Race 5km on September 7 and the Ultimate Challenge 5km on August 31.

The Boksburg Athletic Club (BAC)’s Isaac Mokgola finished the men’s 15km race fourth overall and second in the veterans’ category. He clocked 54:23.
