Gamede clocks new PB at Fred Morrison Race

He finished the men's marathon 11th overall.

Veteran Boksburg Athletic Club (BAC) runner David Gamede smashed his half-marathon PB when he won the men’s grandmasters event during the Fred Morrison Race at Germiston Stadium on September 29.

Gamede clocked 01:22:43 to register a dominant performance in the men’s 60+ race after finishing 11th overall. In his category, he finished 19:14 ahead of Qhubeka AC’s Peter Monyai, who ran 01:41:57 for second place, while Jeppe’s Michael Punnett rounded up the podium.

Kabelo Mwahla, from Sunward Park-based Qhubeka, won the race in 01:10:08, beating Joshua Mabunda (01:13:32) and Urithi AC’s Kedibone Masipa, who clocked 01:13:42 for the bronze.

Paul Kasu of the BAC was fourth after completing the race in 01:14:25.

In the 10km race, the BAC’s Hilton Hosmer finished the men’s race in 45:07 for 10th while teammate Sheree Rogers clocked 52:19 for fifth in the women’s race.
