Beware of disruptions during Jozi Triathlon on Saturday

The event features the standard distance (1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run), sprint (750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run) and super-sprint (200m swim, 10km cycle and 2km run) events.

Residents in Rynfield and Morehill are warned of road disruptions during the second instalment of the SEESA Jozi Triathlon on September 28, at CR Swart Dam in Rynfield from 08:00.

These disruptions will happen during the cycling and road race legs of the event.

When the athletes finish their swim inside CR Swart Dam, they will get onto their bikes to cycle and afterwards lace up their running shoes for their run on the event route.

Those competing in the standard distance will swim for 1.5km, cycle for 40km and complete a 10km run, while the sprint distance includes a 750m swim, 20km cycling and a 5km course. The super-sprint distance will swim for 200m, cycle for 10km and cover a 2km course.

Route

The route covers an overall elevation of 161m with various recovery climbs and declines.

Both cycling and the road race start outside the East Rand Speedboat Club (ERSBC) at CR Swart Park.
After exiting the park, they turn left into Van Rooyen Street, then left into Miles Sharp Street and turn right into Landau Street.

They turn right again into Trevor Avenue, another right into Van Rooyen, and ride and run past the Benoni Country Club before turning left into Miles Sharp Street.

They will go up Miles Sharp Street and then turn right into Honiball Street, and after that stretch, turn right into Parker Street before turning right into Simon Street. They will then turn left into Sarel Cilliers Street, which will take them down to the finish at the ERSBC.
