Moorie revue wins SA champs

The school’s name has once again been etched onto the trophy.

Months of practice, rehearsals and polishing their performance has paid off.

Hoërskool Hans Moore’s revue troupe has been crowned the bi-annual SA champs, for the second time since 2022.

Taking the stage at the finals, held at the Moreletta Church Theatre, on September 6, the group wowed the crowd with their foot stomping production To build a home.

The production highlighted South African’s resilience, determination and commitment to building the country and claiming it as their home, despite the many daily challenges.

The school’s winning streak kicked into gear when the group of 115 members, took to the stage in the Kaleidoscope competition, at the Johannesburg State Theatre, on August 1.

In action. Members of the Hoërskool Hans Moore revue group claimed three top awards.

Competing against Hoërskool Menlopark, Hoërskool Kempton Park and Hoërskool Oosterlig, they proved to be unbeatable as they secured their place in the finals.

Keeping in step, the troupe went on to win the 8-Beats competition at Emperors Palace, on August 5.

During the Kaleidoscope finals, held at the Pretoria State Theatre, the school out-performed Hoërskool Oos-Moot, Hoërskool Overkruin and Midstream College, claiming first prize and bowing out at this year’s champions.

“I am immensely proud of the group of learners, who have worked incredibly hard,” said Leila Coetzee, Hans Moore teacher and production director.

“I want to thank the school as well as the parents who have supported us throughout the year.”
