The Willowmoore Park B Field was a hive of activity when young aspiring cricketers were taught valuable cricket skills during the KFC mini-cricket provincial festival on September 13.
Over 800 youngsters from several Ekurhuleni schools were taken through their paces by the Eastern Storm men’s and women’s senior teams. They were taught important skills like hand-eye co-ordination, correct batting stance and bowling techniques.
This grassroots programme launched the careers of many professional cricketers, including Eastern Storm men’s head coach Geoffrey Toyana since it was started in 1982.
KFC has been involved with the programme since 2009 and has provided over 127 000 children with an opportunity to play cricket and get active.
