The driver evaded arrest.

A high-speed chase of a suspect, who allegedly stole a Suzuki Swift on September 5, ended in a crash in a veld in the Lindelani informal settlement just after 07:30 when the suspect lost control of the car and it overturned.

According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, while EMPD members were en route to report for duty at the Nigel precinct, they received information about a stolen black Suzuki Swift.

“The vehicle was reportedly stolen in the Springs area and had a foreign registration number. The EMPD officers tracked it and spotted it in Kingsway. A chase ensued. The stolen vehicle’s driver lost control, and the car overturned.

The suspect evaded arrest because he freed himself from the wreckage and ran away.

“The driver managed to evade arrest because he freed himself from the wreckage and ran away. The owner of the stolen vehicle reclaimed it.”
