NPO ensures kids are safe at school

The Sekusile Ekhaya Labantwana NPO hosted an anti-bullying campaign.

Sekusile Ekhaya Labantwana, an NPO, hosted an anti-bullying campaign at Katlego Primary School on August 23 to help ensure every child feels safe and happy at school.

They also donated sanitary towels and toiletries to the learners they had received from the Highveld Anglican Board of Social Assist Responsibility.

Peter Sebelebele, a psychologist with the NPO, explained that bullying often starts with older learners in high schools.

“This has even led to serious incidents, such as one high school learner ending up in hospital, so our goal at Sekusile Ekhaya Labantwana is to create a school environment where children can learn and grow without fears of bullying through these interventions.”

The sanitary towels and toiletries donated by the Highveld Anglican Board of Social Assist Responsibility were handed over to the school.

The NPO works with various partners, including the SAPS, the CPF, the EMPD and school social workers, to create a solid support system to fight bullying and make schools safer.

The campaign started at this primary school because the NPO wanted to make an impact on young children about bullying and how they can manage and prevent it later in their school careers.
