Operations continue in the fight against crime.

Vehicles recovered
• Members of the EMPD Eastern Region Task Team recovered an abandoned black Toyota Alphard at the Daveyton Hostel on August 25.

The vehicle, bearing foreign registration plates, was reported as hijacked in Ivory Park, in August.

• A hijacked Nissan NP200 was found abandoned in Extension 7, Ivory Park by BFS officers. It was reportedly taken in the same area.

Drunken driving
A 58-year-old man was arrested by members of the EMPD Bronberg Precinct, on August 26.

The man was stopped at the corner of Combrick Street and Petit Road, Crystal Park, when he was seen driving erratically.

A breathalyser test was conducted on the scene where it was established that the driver was over the legal alcohol limit. He was transported to the nearest hospital where blood tests were completed.

He was detained at the Crystal Park Police Station.

Undocumented foreign nationals
Members of the EMPD Bronberg Precinct arrested 10 undocumented nationals for the contravention of Section 49(1) of Immigration Act (Act 13 of 2002), on August 26.

Possession of drugs
Two men, aged 24 and 35, were arrested on August 26 and 27 in Brakpan.

The suspects were in possession of meth and Mandrax.

Rapid Response Services (RRS)
Ninty-five suspects were arrested from August 23 to 29 during routine concentrated operations conducted by units that form part of the Gauteng SAPS RRS.

Members from the Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol arrested 39 suspects on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, shoplifting, business burglary, contempt of court, damage to property, theft, attempted murder, crimen injuria, possession of unlicensed ammunition, armed robbery, murder and intimidation.

A total of 64 hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered accompanied by 20 arrests for possession of these vehicles.

Seventeen unlicensed firearms were also recovered and eight arrests were made.

Further policing led to the arrest of 28 suspect for possession of drugs with the intent to sell.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were confiscated.
