Armed robbers target Rynfield shopping centre

No arrests have been made.

The Benoni SAPS is appealing for information in the search for five armed men travelling in a white Toyota Avanza believed to have been involved in an armed robbery at Dischem Rynfield Terrace at 10:15 today (August 28).

According to spokesperson Captain Nomsa Sekele, the men entered the store and demanded customers’ cellphones.

“No one was injured during the incident and the robbers fled in the Avanza, which has fake number plates.

“Goods to the estimated value of R160 000 were also taken during the robbery,” she said.

“We are appealing to the community to assist with any information which could lead to their arrest. Tip-offs can be directed to CrimeStop on 08600 10111 or sent to the various Benoni CPF crime WhatsApp groups.”
