EMPD urges community to report bribery

To report suspected corruption, community members can contact the Hennie Erasmus at 011 999 7392.

The EMPD encourages residents to report any incidents related to bribery directly to the municipality’s Standard and Integrity Unit in Kempton Park.

According to Thabiso Makgato, EMPD media liaison, reporting corruption is not just a responsibility but a vital step toward fostering a safer environment.

“As the department, we urge motorists to report these criminal elements.

“Bribery not only undermines trust in our institutions but is also a serious criminal offence.

“Whether one is offering or accepting a bribe, it is crucial for our community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

“We have clear standing orders in place, police officers are strictly prohibited from accepting any favours.

“Our dedicated inspectorate unit is responsible for enforcing these standards and ensuring that our officers uphold the integrity of our service,” said Makgato.

Makgato emphasised that there are severe consequences for anyone found guilty of involvement in bribery. This includes suspension or dismissal.

To report suspected corruption, community members can contact the department’s internal affairs’ Hennie Erasmus on 011 999 7392 or email at Hennie.Erasmus@ekurhuleni.gov.za or call superintendent Motsepe on 011 999 4531.
