Suspects will be appearing in court soon.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and Rapid Response Services (RRS) arrested 141 suspects, from July 29 to August 4.

House robbery
A dramatic chase from Kriel, Mpumalanga came to an end in Ester Park, in Kempton Park on August 22.

According to Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson, local police were in pursuit of a 22-year-old man, travelling in a white Toyota Corolla that was taken during a house robbery.

“Responding to a call for assistance, BFS officers cornered the vehicle on the corners of Zuurfontein Road and Parkland Drive,” he said.

“The suspect was also found in possession of household goods taken during the robbery.

Illicit cigarettes
A 36-year-old man was arrested in Main Street, Fishers Hill on August 3.

The suspect was found in possession of cigarettes valued at R20 000.

A further charge of bribery was added when he offered BFS officers R500 in exchange for his release.

Possession of drugs
• A 40-year-old man was arrested in Bateleur Street, Etwatwa. He was found in possession of Mandrax.

• Three suspects were arrested on Station Road, Brakpan as well as Leboeng and Teanong Sections, Thembisa.
Meth and Mandrax were confiscated.

RRS
Units forming part of the Gauteng RRS including Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol, arrested 135 suspects across the province.

Participating in concentrated operations, officers brought 76 suspects to book on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, business burglary, armed robbery, possession of vehicle breaking implements, domestic violence, contravention of a protection order, theft, murder, rape, hijacking, intimidation and dealing in counterfeit goods.

Sixty-one hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered and 13 arrests were made on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.

Officers further recovered 11 unlicensed firearms, and two accompanying arrests were made.

A further 44 arrests were made for the possession of drugs with the intent to sell.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were confiscated.

Vehicles recovered
• An abandoned Mercedes truck was recovered on Sixth Road, Bredell. It had been hijacked in Heidelberg.

• A Big Boy motorcycle, reported as stolen in Florida, was found on Bunyan Street.

• A white Hino truck was recovered at Yarona Shopping Centre, Kaalfontein. It was reported as hijacked in Weirdaburg.

• A grey Volkswagen Polo was found in Ehlanzeni Section, Thembisa. It was reported as hijacked in Norkem Park.
