Municipality honours its Comrades runners

They achieved seven Bill Rowan, five Robert Mtshali, three bronze and seven Vic Clapham medals.

The City of Ekurhuleni Athletic Club honoured its Comrades Marathon runners for conquering the up-run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg during its aches and pains event on July 20.

A total of 22 runners, out of the 26 that started the race, finished the 85.9km distance from the Durban City Hall to the Greyville Racecourse on June 9. They received certificates for their efforts.

Hoffney Tjiane was the club’s first runner at the finish, crossing the line in 08:06:25 for a Bill Rowan Medal.

The athletes achieved seven Bill Rowan, five Robert Mtshali, three bronze and seven Vic Clapham medals.

Chukudu Mphulo, Leshisa Dhlamini and Sepitle Leshilo achieved their green numbers after completing their 10th Comrades.

“This is our yearly prize-giving event held a few weeks after the Comrades to honour our members,” explained the club’s Noko Phil Matlou.
