Soccer club helps learners

This was part of the club's winter food and blanket drive.

The Sporting Club of Benoni Independiente (SCBI) FC donated blankets and food items to the Benoni Primary School feeding scheme on June 12.

The club gave 20 blankets to underprivileged learners at Benoni Primary and donated 75 more to some residents of Actonville. This was done with the help of community members and Zido Cars to conclude its winter and blanket drive.

“We extend heartfelt gratitude to all those who have contributed to the club’s success. Special thanks are reserved for the invaluable support of sponsors and the leadership of Benoni Primary School for generously providing their grounds as SCBI’s home turf,” said club chairperson Kelvin Govendar.

The SCBI was formed in 2010 by Ismail Nanabhay. It has four divisions, including U6, U7, U8 and U11. They play in the Eastern Local Football Association junior league.
