It’s all about drama at Benoni High

The school raked in 13 awards at the recent drama festival.

Benoni High School’s drama troop delivered award winning productions at this year’s Edenvale Acting and Drama Society’s (EADS) 26th Annual High School Drama Festival.

Adjudicated by 7de Laan’s, Vince Meintjies and accomplished actress, writer and director, Dianne Simpson, BHS’ cast of A Play with Words, claimed second place in the category of best production.

The cast and crew also received awards for best sound, best lighting, best cameo by Ntsikelelo Hele and best actress played by Siphosihle Nene.

In the category for most promising production the school’s An Absolute True Story, placed fourth with awards for best costumes and best ensemble.

Its actors further won best cameo by Phiwokuhle Nene, best supporting actress played by Bophelo Mokone and Makhabazela Mkhize.

Additional awards included Alex Leleka for best supporting actor and Madison Smit and Asante Nkosi for best actress.

Alwande Sibisi was awarded the adjudicators special award for his portrayal of Marlan the dog in An Absolute True Story.
