The SAPS unit remains committed to its fight against crime.

The Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and SAPS Rapid Response Services (RRS) brought 87 suspects to book between June 21 and July 1.

Illicit cigarettes
Officers arrested a man (48) on June 25 on charges of selling illicit cigarettes.

They confiscated 69 cartons of cigarettes at a convenience store in Eidleen, Kempton Park.

Possession of drugs
BFS members arrested six suspects aged between 19 and 35 in Ivory Park Ext 2, on the N12 and Newlands Avenue, Benoni.

They recovered heroin, meth, dagga and magic mushrooms.

Attempted hijacking
The BFS responded to a call of an attempted hijacking on Pretoria Road, Boksburg, on June 27.

Upon arrival, they found security personnel had apprehended a 33-year-old suspect.

The suspect used a toy gun during the alleged crime.

Abandoned vehicles
Officers found two stolen vehicles abandoned in Benoni and Crystal Park.

They found a white Toyota Fortuner on Kempston Avenue, reported as stolen in Kwa-Thema.

They found a white Hyundai Accent in a field in Crystal Park, reported as stolen in the same area.

RRS
From June 21 to 27, the RRS units, including the Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol, arrested 76 suspects across Gauteng.

Routine operations and vehicle checkpoints led to the arrest of 46 on charges including assault with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, drinking and driving, business robbery, possession of counterfeit money, possession of illicit cigarettes, pointing a firearm and possession of unlicensed ammunition.

Six suspects were arrested on charges of being in possession of hijacked and stolen vehicles, and officers recovered 34 vehicles.

The law enforcers recovered four unlicensed firearms and made four accompanying arrests.

The officers took drugs like heroin, dagga and meth off the streets and arrested 20 suspected dealers.
