Matthew 25 Project receives winter woolies

Relators and gracious grannies joined forces to ensure little ones are warm and snug.

A little over two months ago, Harcourts Blue partnered with Eddy House’s Stitches knitting circle to create warm winter woollies in aid of the young residents of the Matthew 25 Project.

This collaboration between the relator’s dynamic career women and the home’s doting grannies forms part of the business’ Donate to Create Initiative.

“Our knitting circle gives us the opportunity to actively pursue our hobby while affording us the time to socialise with circle members who have become dear friends,” said Stitches member and Eddy House resident, Sheila Mcclure.

“Whether knitting or crocheting, we are creating something with loving care. The process keeps our fingers agile, minds fresh and the hearts fuzzy in knowing that our creations, which have been lovingly stitched together, bring warmth and comfort to a child.”

Meeting at the children’s home in Rynfield, on June 20, the relators marvelled at the colourful blankets made by some of the city’s elderly, while the pure smiles for the home’s little residents pulled at their heartstrings.

“When we launched this initiative we could not imagine the tremendous effect it would have on all of us,” said Harcourts Blue’s sales manager, Desiré McDonald.

“We have bridged the gap between grannies, whose families may be living abroad and children who otherwise would never have experienced receiving a delicately made blanket from a biological nana.

“The magic woven into each stitch and square is miraculous.”
