Swift action lands six behind bars

Three suspects were arrested on charges of being in possession of counterfeit money.

Benoni Flying Squad’s (BFS) Sergeant Jaco Powell and Constable Jean-Mare Eksteen arrested six suspects in separate incidents on June 24.

While conducting routine patrols along Snake Road, the pair were flagged down by a local security company who had three suspected illegal immigrants in their custody.

“Upon investigation, the suspects, aged 28 to 38 years, could not produce any legal documents in terms of the Immigration Act and were immediately arrested,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson.

Money confiscated from the suspects.

At 16:00, the officers were again called for assistance at the Van Dyk Park Shopping Centre, in Boksburg.

“Members of the local CPF alleged that three suspects, aged 21 to 25 years, were found in possession of counterfeit notes,” said Giblin.

“The suspects were searched and R600 worth of counterfeit R200 notes were found. They were arrested on the scene.”
