AfriForum continues to tackle potholes

The project forms part of the organisation’s commitment to community safety.

A drop in temperature could not prevent members of AfriForum Benoni Branch from taking to the streets in Rynfield to fill dangerous potholes, recently.

Members and volunteers worked in under the gleaming moonlight using more than a ton of tar to repair 16 hazardous holes in Hartshorne, Reid, Honiball and Clarke streets.

“We realise the importance of well maintained roads and appreciate that such repairs could cause traffic congestion which could send tempers flaring, said Jurie Ferreira, AfriForum’s district coordinator for the East Rand.

“That is why we elected to complete this undertaking at night when the roads are quiet. Despite the cold conditions we are grateful for the support in ensuring that four of the city’s roads are safer to navigate.”

Ferreira encouraged the community to become active members and supporters of the organisation to ensure continuation of its ongoing projects.
