Freemason do good after golf day

The lodge’s continued support helps charities extend their reach.

Freemasons of the Tirmochree Lodge, in Boksburg South, which are part of the Provincial Grand Lodge of South Africa Northern Irish Chapter, raised R20 000 for Hospice East Rand and the Avril Elizabeth Home at a recent golf day.

Supporters of the cause teed off on May 22, at the Benoni Country Club, swinging into action to raise funds for the two organisations.

This is the second consecutive year that these charities benefitted from the annual golf day.

“We are truly overwhelmed by lodge’s continued support as well as the donation we have received,” said Jonquil Siepman, Hospice East Rand media liaison.

Fred van der Merwe of the Avril Elizabeth Home with Bill Rice.

“The spirit of community and support that emanates from Tirmochree Lodge and the Freemasons is truly commendable. Their commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others is an inspiration to us all.”

Fred van der Merwe, fundraiser for Avril Elizabeth Home said the organisation is grateful for the contribution made through funds raised.

“The funds will be utilised to procure therapeutic equipment to be used in the treatment and benefit of our 158 intellectually and physically handicapped permanent residents,” he said.
