Driver dies, pedestrian and two passengers suffer injuries

A 19-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries.

A 30-year-old taxi driver died after losing control of his Toyota Quantum and hitting a pedestrian before veering off the road on the corner of Voortrekker Street and 1st Avenue on June 4 at about 15:15.

According to EMPD communications officer Lerato Monyane, the taxi veered off the road into a ditch, where it overturned, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

“The 19-year-old pedestrian, a female and two passengers were seriously injured,” said Monyane.
