EMPD officers recover a stolen firearm from learner

During investigation it was discovered that the alleged father had been on the run from the police since last week

EMPD officers from the Bronberg precinct recently recovered a firearm and five live rounds of ammunition at a school in Petit.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa, officers received information from the school that learners were causing havoc.

“When the officers arrived they found three learners seated in the principal’s office. One of them had a Glock 17 firearm with the serial number intact and five live rounds in his possession.

“When the learner was asked where got the firearm, he said in his father’s safe. It was further discovered that the father had been on the run from police for a week and that the firearm was linked to a firearm theft case in Sinoville,” said Thepa.

The trio were handed over to the Crystal Park Police Station for further investigation.
