Take note of 48 hour water supply interruption

The taps will run dry as the CoE undertakes planned upgrades at the Northmead Water Tower.

Water supply to Airfield, Brentwood Park, Goedeberg, Farramere Gardens, Oakfield, Northmead, North Villa, Rynfield and parts of Morehill will be interrupted from 07:00 on May 22, to 07:00 on May 24.

According to City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the interruption in supply is due to a planned infrastructure upgrade at the Northmead Water Tower.

“The upgrade includes connecting pipes between the tower and the newly constructed Northmead Reservoir, which will stabilise the water supply in the area,” he said.

Ward 27 Clr Lornette Joseph confirmed that tankers have been made available to provide affected schools, old age homes as well as the clinic with water.

“Additional tankers will be available at six designated collection points from late afternoon to early evening to provide residents with water,” said Joseph.

“We urge residents who are not yet members of their ward’s WhatsApp groups to join as soon as possible.

Updates regarding the arrival of tankers will be sent via these platforms.”

Tankers will be at:
• Oakfields Centre, Maalstroom Street

• Brentwood Park Engen Garage, corner Celia Nestadt and Great North roads

• Farra Street, Northmead

• Rynfield Terrace, corner Vlei and Pretoria roads

• Farrarmere Square, corner Kei and Klip streets

• Norton Home Estate, Auret Street
