Willowmoore comes second at basketball tourney

Norkem High won the tournament.

The Willowmoore High School basketball team slam dunked to a silver medal in the East Point Shopping Centre 3×3 Basketball Tournament on March 23.

The school was pipped to the top prize by Norkem Park High after accumulating the most points in the two categories to end with gold and bronze medals.

According to organiser Seaparo Ramaube, Willowmmore’s basketball programme has improved and they are currently second on the log in the Ekurhuleni North Schools Basketball League.

A Willowmoore High learner competed for the school in the tournament.

“They have grown in leaps and bounds. We are proud of them and look forward to establishing the Benoni Basketball Club in partnership with the school,” he said.

Ramaube explained the tournament served as a platform for local basketball enthusiasts to network and compete.

“As usual, the competition was fierce but many friendships were built. The participating teams showcased their skills and determination throughout the tournament, delivering an impressive display of basketball and social cohesion.”

“The fast-paced and dynamic games provided exciting entertainment for spectators and participants alike.”
